Sustainability - it really matters
With Climate Change now a defining crisis of our time, we at WLS have combined our industry expertise with the requests of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals in order to create a blueprint for more sustainable and ethical clothing, that is beneficial for all our customers, employees and our environment.
With the incredible developments within sustainable textile production and through assessment and monitoring of each sector of our supply chain, we are now able to introduce clothing ranges that put the needs of the environment at its core.
We have been working with our primary factory in Pakistan for over 12 years and control over 80% of production. Our factories are all ISO9001 accredited and have passed Sedex 4-Pillar SMETA audits. We work with those that share our passion and values and that are willing to learn and evolve alongside us.
Packaging
We currently use recycled packaging for our deliveries. Individual items are packaged in garment bags made from recycled plastic rather than virgin plastic and our cardboard boxes consist of recycled cardboard. We are hoping to take it a step further and are currently assessing new compostable garment and mailing bags in line with European Standard EN13432 and are even looking into water soluble packaging.
Travel
We aim to reduce our "air miles" by 75%. By working closely with our customers to project future garment numbers and producing in bulk we can increase our ability to ship our products via rail and sea. We exclusively use a carbon neutral courier for our customer deliveries and we will continue to monitor our travel, looking for new ways to minimise our carbon footprint associated with shipping.
Operations
Everyone at WLS is committed to ensuring our operations are as kind to the environment as possible. In order to do so we will be using electricity generated by renewable sources, ensuring we use recycled materials within our office and have set up an extensive in office recycling scheme. We are currently working with Carbon Footprint Ltd towards obtaining their certification.
Transparency
We pledge to demonstrate complete transparency within our business for the benefit of employees, customers and ourselves. We will work to remain open and informative regarding our operations and in doing so hope to further develop trust, improve efficiency, and strengthen business accountability at all levels.
